Data We Collect
Information Stored Locally
All of the following data is stored only on your device and never transmitted to us:
- Log data ingested from your configured sources
- Application settings and preferences
- Patterns, pipelines, and processors you create
- Pinned logs and markers
License Activation (Optional)
When you activate a Pro license, the following is sent to our payment provider (LemonSqueezy):

LLM Features (Optional)
If you enable auto-format detection with an LLM provider, log samples are sent to your chosen provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or a custom endpoint). You provide your own API key and control when this feature is used.
App Updates
The app periodically checks for updates by contacting our update server. No personal data is transmitted — only a version check request.

Marketing Website
Our website (logtrunk.bytecat.co) uses Google Analytics to understand visitor traffic. This does not apply to the desktop application.
Data Security
- API keys are stored in your operating system's secure keychain (macOS Keychain, Windows Credential Manager, or Linux Secret Service)
- Device fingerprints are one-way hashes that cannot be reversed
- All external API communications use HTTPS encryption
- The app works offline — license validation has a 24-hour grace period
Your Rights and Choices
- Use without a license — the free tier requires no external connections except update checks
- Deactivate your license — remove your device from the license at any time
- Disable LLM features — format detection works without AI providers
- Delete local data — uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data
Data Retention
- Local data: Retained until you delete it or uninstall the app
- License data: Retained by LemonSqueezy per their data retention policy
- LLM requests: Subject to your chosen provider's data retention policy
Children's Privacy
LogTrunk is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated through the app or our website.
